MELBOURNE, Aug 28 AAP - A man faced court today over an incident at a Melbourne train
station in which a wheelchair-bound man plunged from a platform onto tracks.

Aaron Wade Austin, 19, of west suburban Sunshine, appeared briefly in Melbourne Magistrates'
Court charged with reckless conduct endangering life and recklessly causing serious injury.

A Coburg man, 24, was found strapped in his wheelchair on train tracks at inner Melbourne's
Flinders Street Station on Friday at about 4.30pm and had to be rescued by onlookers with
an approaching train just 60m away.

He is recovering in hospital after surgery for a broken leg.

Magistrate Peter Lauritsen remanded Austin in custody to reappear on September 11.
