NSW: Parliament to discuss victims of violent crime compo
A New South Wales Greens MP says compensation for victims of gun-related crimes willbe discussed in state parliament next week.
Greens MP LEE RHIANNON says she will force the government to debate whether its WorkCoverreforms prevented victims of gun-related crime receiving adequate compensation.
In a statement, she says following this week's statistics about gun-related crime,it would be callous of the government to prevent police, teachers or bank workers fromgetting compensation after violent incidents.
Ms RHIANNON says the government will be forced to debate her disallowance motion.
She says if the Upper House can be swayed to vote with the disallowance motion, thenworkers who suffer from gun-related psychological injuries can be protected.
Ms RHIANNON will meet with new opposition leader JOHN BROGDEN on Monday to discuss the issue.
