WA: Abolishing AWAS could hurt WA: Carpenter

West Australian Premier ALAN CARPENTER says KEVIN RUDD'S plan to abolish AWA's .. could
hurt WA's booming resources industry.

Mr CARPENTER says AWA's are almost the norm in the state's mining sector .. and he's
told the federal opposition leader to remember this .. when he draws up Labor's IR policy
ahead of this year's election.

He's told the West Australian newspaper there needs to be a model which respects WA's
situation .. but allows for pay and conditions of ordinary working people to be underpinned
by fair standards.
